Set off from Albany on the first day of 2014 and we head up to north. We had lots of fun during the first few days in Western Australia. Despite it being a 6 hours journey from Perth city, I think it is super worth the ride! So if you are planning to visit WA, do not hesitate to drop by Albany and make it a base. You can even visit places like Denmark and Augusta if time allows! & so on New Years Day, we head up north and continue our adventures in WA!

Day 4
Manjimup Truffle and Co

First stop was Manjimup - Truffle and Co . Not too sure about the food that was served in the cafe, it was closed when we were there. But all the truffle items we got there were so yummy!

Busselton Jetty

Blue sky, dreamy beach and the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere, Busselton Jetty is definitely worth a visit! Sadly we did not have time to stay longer and explore the around. Jetty trains and underwater observatory looks really cool.

As it was super peak season during our visit to Western Australia, we did not stop by Margraet river for a night. I thought it will be better for us if we stop there for a night to save the hassle of travelling up and down/ rushing to Bunbury before it gets dark.

Anyway we head to Quality Hotel Lord Forrest bunbury for a night. It was not too bad considering the price we paid. But don't expect too much, the only thing that i couldn't stand was the stench of chlorine smell from the pool. The accommodation is definitely less expensive compare to those inns/motels in MR. Best of all, the hotel was located near to all the restaurants in bunbury, making it really convenient. We visited friendship restaurant next to the motel and find that the food there are good and affordable.

Day 5

Mandurah Cicerellos Fish and Chips

Set off to Mandurah for the famous fish and chip but felt it was over-rated. (or perhaps did we get the wrong fish) Anyway, my favorite was the seafood clam chowder. Noms. Big chunks of seafood in the soup makes it really delicious.

Head over to Perth City and check in to Goodearth hotel. Not the fanciest or most comfortable hotel in town but the location and cost of accommodation are fairly good. Free Wifi, parking lots (based on first come first serve priority).

After exploring the suburban and the beauty of WA for days, we make a short trip to the hays street and kings street. & we are just in time for their clearance sale. lol.

Day 6

Frementle Prison

Visited Fremantle Prison Musuem and had an educational tour about the prison back then. Its amazing how prisoner managed to escape from their cell. I guess when there is hope, nothing is impossible.

Frementle Market

My favorite market got to be frementle market. Good food, fresh fruits and really nice ambiance. Although the place is flooded with tourist like us, i still find the market very lovely!

Henderson Street and South Terrace, Fremantle
 Friday 8am – 8pm, Saturday, Sunday &  Monday Public Holidays 8am – 6pm

Habour Town Shopping

Head over to the Outlet mall at Habour Town in the afternoon and got some cheap deal there. Most items are marked down 30% or more and best thing it closes at 9pm on Friday! Wheee! Most of the shops closes at 5pm or earlier so closing at 9pm is a plus!

Day 7

Kalamunda Village - Saturday Market

Visited the once a month Kalamunda village Saturday market and mom got lots of fruits. & i mean ALOT. Anyway the farmer market sells assorted items ranging from jewelry to fruits and handicrafts, & we had a good time there. You can check out the list of farmers market in perth here

Kalamunda Town Square
First Saturday of every month

Corica Apple Strudel

After hearing many raves about Corica Apple Strudel, we made a trip down on friday and got one for dad's birthday. & guess what? one box is not enough! We head down again on Saturday and got another 4 box to dabao ( takeaway) back to Singapore! One Apple strudel at 20 AUD and pre-order are not required.

Day 8

Shed Market

After visiting several markets, E-shed market is considered as the quiet and less crowded ones. Located opposite Victoria Quay, E-shed market offers more unique shop like the one above- The Inn Fairy shop. Super duper cool! Got a couple of sandlewood soap there and it smells really good.

To sum it up, I thought the trip would be perfect if we extend a day at MR or make it a 7 Day 6 Night trip as there are not much things to do in Perth City. Nevertheless we had a good time slacking our day away. So thankful for this impromptu road trip with my family. & i'm glad that my brother lead the family to the places we wanted to go and my sis the being the navigator assisting my brother by giving the right directions. Being someone who is terrible at directions, even in singapore, i'm so thankful for them!

Looking forward to the next family trip in 2014!
