Top Tips for Saving Money when travelling in Hong Kong!

We all know that Hong Kong is similar to Singapore in several ways. Especially when both countries are voted as the most expensive cities to live in (although Singapore clearly wins) but the living expense in Hong Kong has skyrocketed over the years. One single small cup of gelato cost 60HKD ($10 SGD excuse me!) Thankfully with Mr Accountant around, who search for the best value deal, we manage to save a few bucks for more pieces of Pierre Herme Macaroon

1. Airport Express – Hong Kong Station
We got our airport Express tickets here instead of purchasing at the station and we got it at a steal. 32% off ticket! Plus, its fuss free and we could charge it to our credit card! Promotion end 15 September 2016. From Airport to Hong Kong Station via Airport express is only 25 minutes!

2. Free Shuttle Bus to Hotel
Hong Kong MTR provide free shuttle bus service to hotel for passenger who take Airport Express Shuttle bus. Thus If you happen to stay in these hotels, you can take the free shuttle bus service.

3. Data SIM Card
We got our sim card from here for just 5Days plan - 55HKD/ SGD 10 for 1.5 GB . They are so far the cheapest plan we found for 5 day plan. If 1.5GB is not enough, opt for 7 days at 60HKD.

Before you decide to get them, check if your hotel provides free mobile service. Most of Hotels provide free usage of mobile during your stay so you might not even have to purchase the SIM card.

4.Openrice - HongKong
Open rice - Our favorite food guide in Hong Kong. You can find the best food in town as long as you have money in your pocket. Tried and Tested! The reviews are quite accurate. Chances of spending money on food that are not nice is reduced! Nonetheless, if you happen to see anything you like, just go ahead! The best part of travelling is to embrace the good and bad, isn’t it? Best if you can read Chinese. I’m not sure if the English page have similar information compared to the Chinese version.

5. Octopus card for Public Transport
Save money using Octopus card when travelling public compare to buying single tickets. Stored value is refundable at Airport (Near Airport Express). Be it on bus, train, tram or even cruise, you save time to the hassle to purchase ticket!
