5 Day 4 Night Da Nang kids friendly Itinerary & things to know when Visiting Da Nang

After our trip to Danang in 2024, we decided to return to Danang and celebrate Y’s third birthday! Since it was his birthday trip, we book our stay at Pullman Danang Beach Resort to fulfil his request to “dig sand” every day.

As it was our second trip, we did not visit many attractions. Instead, it was a slow pace trip with our time mainly spent in the resort. We did explore more restaurants during our most recent visit.

When is the best time to visit Da Nang?

The ideal time to visit Da Nang is between February and May, when the skies are sunny and humidity is low. This period is perfect for beach activities and exploring the mountains without the intense heat of summer (June–August) or the typhoons of the wet season (September–December).

For budget travellers, the shoulder season in late January or early May offers a great balance of good weather and lower hotel rates.

How many days in Da Nang is enough?

For most visitors, 4 to 5 days is the sweet spot. This allows enough time to spend one day at Ba Na Hills, one day exploring the city (Dragon Bridge, Marble Mountains), and one day relaxing at My Khe Beach and taking a day trip to Hoi An.

If you are traveling with toddlers or prefer a slower pace, extending to 6 days is highly recommended to enjoy the resorts without rushing.

Transportation around Da Nang

Private hire such as Grab is widely available in Da Nang and is the preferred method of transport for tourists. It is safe, transparent, and eliminates the language barrier or the need to haggle. You can book GrabCar (private car), GrabBike (motorbike taxi), and even GrabFood for delivery.

Doesn't recommend people to take a trip from tout that is standing outside the airport as i heard horror stories about them. Usually they will show you the same price as their grab app and try to ask you to go with them. Do note that they might change the price along the way or might drop you at a wrong destination. Thus, always book through the app or book a private transfer.

How far is Ba Na Hills from Da Nang city center?

Ba Na Hills is located approximately 25km to 30km west of Da Nang city center, which takes about 45 to 60 minutes by car. The most popular ways to get there are by booking a private round-trip transfer (often including wait time), taking a Grab, or joining a shuttle bus tour. Motorbike rentals are an option for adventurous solo travelers, but the mountain roads can be winding.

Do I need a visa for Da Nang?

Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Travelers from many ASEAN countries enjoy visa exemptions (usually 14–30 days). For most other international visitors, Vietnam offers an E-Visa system that is valid for up to 90 days. It is crucial to apply for the E-Visa via the official government portal at least one week before your trip to account for processing times.

Is Da Nang safe for families with kids

Da Nang is extremely family-friendly and is known for having wide, stroller-friendly sidewalks—a rarity in Vietnam. The beaches have gentle slopes perfect for toddlers, and locals are incredibly welcoming to children. Resorts like the Pullman and Hyatt Regency offer dedicated kids' clubs, and attractions like Ba Na Hills have massive indoor fantasy parks tailored for younger visitors.

Can you drink tap water in Da Nang?

No, you should not drink tap water in Da Nang. Always stick to bottled water, which is cheap and readily available at convenience stores like Circle K, WinMart, and Lotte Mart. Most hotels provide complimentary bottled water daily. Ice in reputable restaurants is generally safe as it is made from purified water, but street stalls are more of a gamble for sensitive stomachs.

Do most places accept credit card in Vietnam Da Nang?

The preferred payment method is cash. Supermarket and most restaurants do accept cash. However, do note that massage parlour do charge extra 3-5% if you are planning to use a credit card. If you are planning to go for massage, do bring sufficient cash.

In the evening, we settle down and head out for pizza dinner. It was a huge disappointment so we shall not name the restaurant. Highly recommend to visit 4P pizza instead! Do book ahead!

Then, we visited Lotte Mart Da Nang (Open until 10:00 PM). It’s perfect for stocking up on snacks, milk, and diapers for the kids. There is also a small arcade and bowling alley on the top floor if the kids still have energy.

Day 2: Beach Vibes

The next morning, we explore the private beach that is located right infront of the resort. The sand is soft and the water is shallow, ideal for toddlers. While the little one is soaked with sand play, I made my way to Queen for a 70 minute massage.

Irini Restaurant

In the afternoon, we head to IRINI Greek Restaurant  which is just a 5-minute drive in the An Thuong area. It’s a beautiful garden-style spot with authentic souvlaki and dips. We visited on our previous trip and decided to return to the restaurant!

Irini is widely considered the premier spot for authentic Greek cuisine in Da Nang, offering a breezy, Mediterranean atmosphere perfect for families. The menu is built on "Grandma’s recipes," emphasizing fresh ingredients and traditional methods.

Although the must try item is the lamb, the Gyros wrap served with homemade tzatziki is really good too! We tried its chicken skewer and it did not disappoint.

Address: 41 Ngo Thi Si, Bac My An, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang.

Operating Time: Daily, 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM.

After lunch, we visited at the Kids Club. They have a dedicated toddler room with activities like origami and lantern making. Then in the late afternoon we went for a  second round of Beach Play.

Rang Internationally Indian

For dinner, we visited The Rang , Family Indian Restaurant. The Michelin-selected restaurant, Rang (meaning "color" in Hindi) offers a sophisticated fusion of Indian and Mediterranean flavors. It is known for its vibrant décor and an open kitchen where you can watch chefs prepare colorful, aromatic dishes. Love all the dishes we ordered! Especially the grilled octopus and Briyani!

Do make reservation in advance to avoid disappointment!

Address: 384 Vo Nguyen Giap Street, My An, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang.

Operating Time: Lunch: 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM | Dinner: 5:30 PM – 10:30 PM.

Day 3: The Ba Na Hills Adventure

After our sumptuous breakfast in the hotel and one round of beach play, we set off to Ba Na Hills at 12pm. We explore the French village and Fantasy park. In the evening, we stayed overnight at Mercure French Village

Day 4: Seafood & Supermarkets

The next morning we visited the Golden Bridge (Hands of God) and made our way to back to Danang in the late morning!

After checking into our hotel, we had our lunch at Bé Ni 2. This bustling, casual seafood spot is a local favorite and recently gained recognition in the Michelin Guide. It features large live-tanks where you can hand-pick your catch—from lobsters and crabs to various shellfish—and have it cooked to your preference.

Grilled Garlic Shrimp is definitely my favourite! They help to deshell too! Do try the local specialty - sweet snail with chilli! Sweet snails, or Ốc hương in Vietnamese, are a popular, highly nutritious sea snail known for their naturally sweet, crunchy meat and fragrant aroma!

Address: 228 Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Phuoc My, Son Tra, Da Nang.

Operating Time: Open 24 hours (Best for late-night seafood feasts)

Afterward, we did a last minutes shopping at Con Market and GO! Supermarket! Right outside the supermarket, we visit an Indoor Kids Playground and kept Y entertained!

Veteran Korean BBQ

For our last dinner in Danang, we had Korean BBQ - Veteran Restaurant. This restaurant offer high-quality meats and plenty of side dishes (banchan) that we enjoyed. Also, Veteran is a top-tier choice for Korean BBQ lovers, known for its high-quality imported beef and Dalat pork.

Also, they provide a lively environment with staff who often assist with the grilling to ensure the meat is cooked perfectly. We ordered the Marinated Pork Belly and it did not disappoint! Service was top notched too! Y had a great time there!

Advance reservation is highly recommended! Do note that they are not open during lunch time!

Address: 8 Duong Dinh Nghe, An Hai Bac, Son Tra, Da Nang.

Operating Time: Daily, 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM.

Day 5: Relaxed Departure

On our last day, we enjoy a slow buffet breakfast at Epice Restaurant and took one last walk on the beach before heading back to the airport!

Other Activities to include in your itinerary

As this is our second trip to Danang, we didn’t visit many attraction this round. Below are some activities that you can consider to add into your itinerary

Trip to Hoi An

A day trip to Hoi An is a highlight of any Central Vietnam visit. Since it is only a 30-45 minute drive from Da Nang, you can easily experience the ancient town’s transition from a sleepy morning village to a glowing lantern-lit wonderland.

Marble Mountain

Along the way to Hoi An, one can explore marble mountain (Ngu Hanh Son). Climb the stone steps to discover hidden caves like Huyen Khong and enjoy panoramic views of the coast.

Fire and Water show at Dragon Bridge

The 666-meter-long Dragon Bridge, built in the shape of a golden dragon, is the only bridge where a dragon “breathes fire.”  On weekend nights ( Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights, and public holidays  – 9pm) , this dragon breathes fire and water, creating a dramatic display that lights up the Han River and leaves visitors in awe

Overall we enjoyed our short trip to Danang! We were lucky with the weather and there were not much crowd in late January! Definitely will be back again!
